Friendship

Friendship

At St Joseph of Cluny, we understand it can be overwhelming to start in a new school especially with the added pressure of trying to find new friends. To make things a little easier, each year we organise various activities for incoming students when they are in 6th class to give them an opportunity to get to know their future classmates. Students have enjoyed movie nights, easter egg hunts and arts and crafts activities. These students are also invited to take part in fun outdoor games together in August before the new school year starts.

We have an ABC committee that could help if there are any friendship issues and students are also welcome to talk to their tutor, year head or the guidance counsellor. There are plenty of extra curicular activities and events that can promote friendship such as: sports day, halloween dress up, hockey, basketball, tennis, GAA, choir, debating, book clubs, TY Musical, Gaisce and school tours. Taking part in any of these activities can help students to get to know their classmates better, learn new skills, improve their personal growth and development and become more confident.
