Letter from the Chairperson of the Parents' Association
Dear Parents,
The Parents’ Association supports the ethos of the St. Joseph of Cluny Order and works towards supporting the teachers and students with items such as Debs Reception, Careers Evenings, Christmas Carol Service, and fundraising activities.
Our Committee is made up of parents from each class in the school. Currently we have 17 members. Our meetings take place on Monday evenings every 6 weeks. The meetings start at 7pm and are normally over by 8pm. Ms. Mary White, Principal, attends all the meetings as our Guest. This results in a very well run committee, which is always up to date with what is going on in the school such as new policy issues, Board of Management issues etc. We value Ms. White’s expertise and advice in dealing with such matters.
Every year we have the usual events such as the Debs Reception, Careers Evening, Christmas Carol Service and talks for parents. This year we launched two new events. One was a Parents Evening in aid of the Charity chosen by the Student Council for 07/08. This event had Dr. Vincent Moloney as a guest speaker and food and wine were served. The other new event we held was a Summer Evening of Music and Song. Both of these events will now become annual events due to their success.
We hold an AGM every October at which the current Committee steps down but members are eligible for re-election. It is often hard to form a committee without re-elected members. It is very important that we continue to have a number of people who have been on the committee before, as it ensures a very well run and well-organised committee.
If you would like to be part of the dynamic Cluny Parents Association, but perhaps you cannot commit to all the meetings, please contact us as we always need help at the events and would welcome anyone who has an hour or two to spare. If you have any queries, you may contact me via the school office.
Yours sincerely,
Linda O’Reilly
Chairperson.
